Are you struggling with your dentures? Perhaps they fall out regularly. Maybe they shift in your mouth, causing friction and creating painful blisters. You’ve dealt with this for long enough. We’re sure you’re ready to upgrade to a better option. Here at the Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer advanced solutions, such as implant dentures. These powerful dentures use strong titanium dental implants to hold your prosthetic in place securely. Thanks to this stability, implant dentures allow you to eat all your favorite foods without limitation, speak clearly without struggle, and smile with confidence. It’s a path forward to an improved, healthy life. While exploring your options, you may have heard terms like All-on-4 or Fix-on-Six®. But what exactly do these options mean?
While All-on-4 can be a good choice for some patients, it isn’t suitable for everyone because it uses larger, traditional dental implants. Fix-on-Six provides an alternative, making healthy, functional smiles accessible for everyone.
All-on-4 Explained
The All-on-4 technique replaces an entire row of teeth in the upper or lower arch. It uses four traditional dental implants to anchor the prosthetic. The implants are up to 5 mm wide and require sufficient bone density to stay secure. If the jawbone is too thin, soft, or has experienced significant bone loss, it may not be able to securely hold the implant, increasing the risk of implant failure. In these situations, a bone graft is required to rebuild and restore lost bone tissue, adding more time to the process.
Traditional dental implants take a toll on your jawbone because of the invasive nature of the procedure. An incision must be made in the gums to expose the underlying jawbone. Then, the bone is drilled, and the implant post is inserted. Only the post can be inserted; the second piece, the abutment, is attached after healing. This is a lengthy procedure that leaves patients in discomfort and pain. It takes multiple appointments until patients finally get their new teeth.
Because of the multiple visits, complex procedure, and size of the implant, the process ends up costing more. This type of commitment, time, and money isn’t in the cards for many people. Fix-on-Six, however, allows patients to get mini dental implants!
A Powerful Alternative: Fix-on-Six
Fix-on-Six is a suitable option for patients who are ineligible for All-on-4. The possibility lies solely in the use of mini dental implants. This alternative uses six to ten mini dental implants to secure your false teeth. It provides patients with an entire row of teeth in the upper or lower jaw.
The small but strong mini implants are less than 3 mm wide and provide similar benefits as conventional dental implants. They offer strength without complication. In addition, the procedure is much simpler and straightforward—one of our dentists will drill a tiny hole into your jawbone to insert the small implant post. You don’t have to worry about a second appointment for the abutment attachment—a mini implant features an integrated, solid, one-unit design. The screw-like implant post has an O-ball attached to the top, serving as the attachment point for the dental prosthesis. Its threaded design allows us to anchor the implant securely in the bone without the need for a bone graft.
Mini implants boast immediate loading capabilities. This means, in some cases, we can attach your false teeth to the implant on the same day as implant placement. That way, you don’t have to worry about going a day without teeth.
Aside from fewer visits and a quicker, simpler procedure, mini dental implants contribute to a shorter healing time. This way, you can use your teeth normally shortly after the procedure without feeling extreme discomfort. Thanks to the mini implants’ simple design and straightforward process, it is less expensive than traditional implants, costing about half the price. This makes Fix-on-Six the go-to option for many patients.
